Creed Statement: Who is God? What is Human Mind?

EssayChat / Nov 2, 2026

God is the eternal Creator and Sustainer of all things in the Universe. He has no beginning and no end. He is complete unto himself without need of anything external. His attributes are wisdom, power, love, and justice. He gave life to all creatures and made humans in his image. God allows free will to serve and obey him and sinfulness entered into the world of man through both Adam and Eve's willful disobedience. God is pure goodness and cannot abide evil. God put forth his essence into a virgin to become the Savior of mankind in Jesus. In Jesus, God's Son, the gap between man and God would be bridged and forgiveness of sins would be readily available with faith. Jesus set forth the example of sacraments that God's children must follow like Baptism and behaviors such as faith and loving neighbor and loving God first above all else in order to please the Father. When Jesus left Earth God sent his spirit to reside in his followers to assist with helping them stay faithful. God will put an end to the corruption and evil of sin and there will be peace and paradise for those faithfully obeying him eternally.

Theological Confusion

God and Human MindOne of the biggest theological issues that people face today, including me, is why God allowed evil in the first place. If angels rebelled and were kicked out of Heaven and felt that it was good to get revenge on God by damning all of his created humans to a life of sin and degradation God should have seen this coming to pass due to his infinite nature. So why did God allow this to happen? God could have literally blotted those rebellious angels out from existence if he really is God, so what stopped him from doing so? Why did he allow all these centuries to pass with the angels, now demons, torturing and running rampant on mankind for no other reason than a test of humanity's faith and resilience when God already knew humans are only made of dust? It does not make much sense to allow such sadistic beings to willfully destroy your children. If a regular parent on Earth were to allow someone to come in and hurt his children and not intervene but stand by and watch those children would be taken away from that parent and the parent labeled 'abusive'. This is where the issue becomes deeply entrenched in the confusion that if God is the best Father, then why does he not protect his children from such horrific evil and forgive the new generations that are so far removed from Adam and Eve? These questions seemingly have no answers. I do not bring them up to anyone because I do not want anyone's faith or belief to waiver. It is not my wanting to hurt others.

The biggest contribution to this mindset has been that I have read the Bible and other factual, scholarly books on the nature of evil, angels, and hell itself. I still do not understand. Unfortunately I tend to take the Lord's Prayer seriously and if God's will is done on Earth as it is in Heaven then that means that it is God's will that all this evil and corruption is happening. Nothing happens without God's allowance. He controls everything, or allows everything. The Bible speaks of God having a plan, but humans obviously cannot see that plan. Humans are continuously struggling with the pains of suffering, disease, death, crime, and internal emotions such as greed, anger, and sadness that tear them apart from the inside out. Humans have a limited time to try to muddle through this life and make the best of it. It all seems so pointless from the perspective that humans are put here to suffer and die all in hopes that some test has been passed and then a reward of Heaven might be granted. So many people today do not believe in God because the evils of the world outweigh the goodness by a huge payload. There is no convincing those who have lost faith completely that some invisible being loves them when they have nothing to go on as proof, not even an experience emotionally. When someone as altruistic and beautiful as Mother Teresa of Calcutta was shown to have little to no faith, but continued in her good works out of love, it shuts the light of hope out even more. Daniel Trotta (2007) confirms a letter that Mother Teresa wrote "Such deep longing for God -- and ... repulsed -- empty -- no faith -- no love -- no zeal. (Saving) souls holds no attraction -- Heaven means nothing -- pray for me please that I keep smiling at Him in spite of everything" (p. 1).

Standing Up

So many around me have been against God and I defend him constantly and do so in a loving manner. I try to be the best example of love and grace that I can be in the face of this evil world. When others ask me the same old question: "If God is real then why does he allow all this evil and suffering because he apparently controls everything?" What is funny in a sad way is that I parrot answers without any real confidence behind it. I tell these people that God is a being of justice. He allowed the evil to exist in the world because he wanted humans to be given a choice to see both sides of living: goodness and faith, and evil and suffering. The more evil one does the more suffering it creates. He allows us to have our own free will because like a good parent after we grow up we must be allowed to make mistakes and find our own way in the world, in the spiritual realm. If God did not give us a choice, we would be nothing but puppets, not children. Free will is the one gift that is a double-edged sword. It hurts us if we use it wrong.

Doubts

When I tell people these answers I always sigh inside and wish that I were honestly not a member of the human family that ate the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. I would be okay being a puppet. I do not want to make mistakes. I want to obey, unquestioning. I may be the only one who feels this way but that is okay. I would rather spend my life on earth being the perfect example of obedience, grace, love, wisdom, and mercy than hurt others including God. If God knows my heart then he knows this already. It is my fondest wish. It is not reality. I guess one could dig inside deeply and say that I am resentful somewhat that I wanted to be a perfect servant but because I have this flawed human body and mind I am held back from that. It feels like a cage sometimes. The worst thing about how I tell others these answers is if someone challenged me on my explanations I probably could not go very far before the emotional upheaval came bursting out about my pain on the entire scenario. So I utilize logic the best that I can. I know there are better answers out there and I still seek them, especially through prayer.

Spiritual Grounding

Beyond standard methodology, there is a lot to be said for how spiritual grounding and mindset work actually shape intellectual endurance. When people learn to deliberately direct their focus, manage self-doubt, and shift away from reactive habits, it fundamentally changes how they handle complex problem-solving and pressure. Trading constant stress for a steady, disciplined clarity doesn't just improve daily well-being-it builds the kind of deep perseverance and steady optimism that keeps rigorous, long-term research moving forward.

Prayer

Dearest Father,

I have doubts about why there is evil in the world. I do not understand why you allowed evil to inherit the Earth and corrupt it when it was your masterpiece. You created man and sin entered the world and made mankind more inclined to evil than to do good. I have sought the answers to these questions. I am confused and sad about them. I ask that you please take these doubts, fears, and questions and guide me to the faith and understanding that I need to be at peace and to also help others who have the same doubts and questions. I love you and want only to follow you flawlessly and be obedient. Please assist me so that I can draw even closer to you in faith. Thank you for all you have done for me in my life. Not a day goes by that I do not realize that if it were not for your love and power that I would not be here. I pray this through Jesus Christ's name, Amen.
