EssayChat / Nov 18, 2019

Bound refers to an American neo-noir crime film directed and written by the Wachowskis in 1996 in the feature film. Similarly, the Post Film is an American thriller of historical political nature directed by Steven Spielberg, who is also the producer. Bound stars John Ryan, Jennifer Tilly, Joe Pantoliano, and Gina Gershon. However, the post stirs female publishers such as Merl Streep staring as Katherine Graham, and Tom Hanks starring as Bradlee among other casts in supporting roles. The Post film was set in 1971 inspired by a true story of the Washington post Journalists, who tried to publish the Pentagon Papers. The classified documents incorporated the events of the 20-year involvement of the government of the U.S in the Vietnam War. However, The Wachowskis directed Bound as one of their first films, which gained inspiration from Billy Wilder's noir story that involves significant aspects of sex and violence. The story revolves around sex and violence experienced by different casts in the hands of Mafia associates.

Film Review

Film ReviewThe films gave me agitation, angered, sad feelings, and a happy ending. I was saddened by the beatings and torture that Caesar and the Mafia associates gave to Barry Kivel Starring as Shelly in Bound. Equally, the post presented similar feelings of sympathy because of the innocent Graham after the Death of his Brother and Father. I consider the film unjust based on the injustices that the society experienced at the hands of the powerful, in this case, the Mafia in Bound and the Government against Mrs. Graham Washing Post publishing house (Spielberg n.p).

The films' sense of style revolves around humor, sex, and violence to portray the challenges the weak experience at the hands of the strong. In Bound, The Wachowskis (n.p) incorporates the use of lesbian concepts, which might appeal to the gay community. However, in Post, the director involves Stephen Spielberg demonstrates the power of the post to report issues of history. Spielberg (n.p) reveals the fruition of breaking the chains that bend justice by defending the principle values of the Constitution, which remains challenging since the Hamilton period. The director incorporated different styles including racing cameras, flying feet, enjoyable loose materials, and accelerated rhythms. The style portrays the veteran crew as virtuous in helping create distinct visual realms.

The Wachowskis (n.p) uses the film to inform the audience of the challenges that people face in society through the theme of Bound. Different characters, including Corky, Violent, Caesar, and Shelly all have a closet that they live in. the Bound is not only among the gays but most humans live in different closets of their lives. The first scene depicts Cocky as literally gagged and bound in Violet's closet by Caesar. The scene symbolically reveals to the audience what will unfold throughout the film. Equally, in the Post, Spielberg (n.p) depicts the challenge experienced by the Press and state in legal battle especially for the printing of false news. President Nixon and Trump remain at the central lens of the movie because of their desire to pick on the press for fake news.

Conclusion

I had an emotional reaction watching the films because of the violence, strong language and sexual scenes prevalent in the films. Although not a positive aspect, I felt justice was done when Violet plotted to steal the money from Caesar to start a new life away from her previous pain. Similarly, I feel that Post-film allows for an easy understanding of American history. The characters who stood out for me were Violet in Bound and Heiress Katharine Graham in the Post. Violet's and Heiress Graham's characters depicted strength despite their being used as a plaything by men. The heiress thrives in a male-dominated career and with little skills of journalism was on the verge of destroying her family legacy and the newspaper for allegations of contempt of court. However, the characters appear strong and waiting for the right time to unbind themselves from the violent chains of Caesar, and the oppressive chains of the government respectively. I would definitely recommend the films to someone else based on the stylish, sophistication and clever direction depicted in Lesbian characters in a noir that is not extensively sexual by the Wachowskis. The Bound film will especially be enjoyed by people who love excessive violence in the film. However, I would caution the audience with the view that the film might influence negative moral justification based on excessive use of violence and sexual scenes. Equally, The Post remains a valuable film for journalists and people interested in legal battles against the State. However, the Post Film calls for integrity in handling new to avoid cases of 'Fake News.'
